BG3 delivered what fans had begged for: a sprawling D&D adaptation with deep branching, excellent voice acting, tactical turn-based combat, and companions players actually fell in love with. Its reactivity set a new bar — actions taken in Act 1 rippple through Act 3 in ways no prior RPG had managed at this scale. It swept the 2023 Game Awards and pushed the CRPG genre into the mainstream.
