Call of Duty mastered the industrial side of franchise production: rotating lead studios, dependable multiplayer hooks, blockbuster campaigns, and a monetization stack that can flex from boxed retail to free-to-play battle royale. The series has mutated from World War II roots into modern warfare, black-ops futurism, and Warzone's service-model gravity without ever losing its mass-market readability. It is less a franchise now than a standing appointment in the release calendar.

Modern Warfare redefined console shooter polish, Black Ops became its own sub-brand, and Warzone let Call of Duty stay culturally present between premium releases. Even people who say they are tired of COD still speak the language it normalized.
