Founded in 1979 as a coin-op manufacturer, Capcom defined arcade fighting (Street Fighter II), survival horror (Resident Evil), and monster-collection action (Monster Hunter). After a brutal mid-2010s slump (Resident Evil 6, on-disc DLC scandals, Western outsourcing failures), the company centralized on the proprietary RE Engine in 2017 and started a near-unbroken hit streak: Resident Evil 2 Remake, RE7, Devil May Cry 5, Monster Hunter World, Monster Hunter Wilds. Now ~3,800 employees, market cap ~$13B.
