Horror flipped inside out so the player becomes the thing everyone else should fear.
Reverse horror turns the player into the monster, predator, or nightmare force inside a horror setup. That reversal creates a different fantasy: stalking instead of surviving, improvising cruelty instead of escape. The genre works best when it still preserves horror texture instead of collapsing into generic combat.
Example
Carrion is the cleanest modern example, while asymmetrical horror games often let one side live out the reverse-horror fantasy through killer roles.
Why it matters
Reverse horror proves that perspective changes genre feel radically even when the underlying tools look familiar. Power and fear are closer cousins than they first appear.
