When a team down 0-2 in a Bo5 (or 0-3 in a Bo7) claws back to win the series.
Reverse sweeps are the rarest and most dramatic outcomes in esports. They require everything: an adjusted draft, a mental reset, and the opponent cracking under inevitability. Pressure inverts between games. The leading team tightens up and stops innovating, while the trailing team has nothing to lose and starts throwing punches.
Example
OG reverse-swept both PSG.LGD and Team Liquid on their way to winning TI8. Fnatic reverse-swept Cloud9 in the 2018 LoL Worlds semifinals. Tokido's reverse sweep of Punk at EVO 2017 is replayed as a mental fortitude masterclass.
Why it matters
Reverse sweeps test psychological backbone more than any other competitive situation. They are the clearest demonstration that mentality is as important as mechanics, and they justify why Bo5 formats produce better champions than single-elimination.
