Oleksandr 's1mple' Kostyliev joined Natus Vincere (NaVi) in 2016 and became the team's central star, winning HLTV Player of the Year in 2018 and 2021 — the only player to win it back-to-back. He led NaVi to the PGL Major Stockholm 2021 victory, completing a career of trophies including major event MVPs. After moving to FaZe Clan briefly in 2024, returned to NaVi in 2025. Has been a vocal Ukrainian public figure since 2022.

Example

s1mple's 2021 HLTV Player of the Year win came after 19 LAN finals, a Major MVP, and a CS:GO record 0.85 average rating across the year — statistical dominance that resembles peak years of traditional individual sports stars.

Why it matters

s1mple is the reference for individual mechanical skill in modern Counter-Strike and one of the most globally recognized esports players outside of MOBAs. His career also tracks the evolution of CS:GO into Counter-Strike 2 and the post-2022 reshaping of European esports.
