You are a cat in a cyberpunk city, and yes, there is a dedicated meow button.

Stray by BlueTwelve Studio lets you play as a stray cat navigating a forgotten underground city populated entirely by robots. The game nails the fantasy of being a cat: you knock things off shelves, curl up on cushions, rub against robot legs, and squeeze through gaps no human character could. The cyberpunk setting is gorgeous, with neon-drenched alleyways and a layered vertical city inspired by Kowloon Walled City. The companion drone B-12 provides narrative context while you do cat things. It is a relatively short, linear adventure, but the atmosphere and novelty of its perspective carried it to massive commercial success.

The dedicated button that does nothing but meow, which players used to meow at every single robot in the city. Real cats reportedly watched the screen and reacted to the game, spawning an entire genre of 'my cat playing Stray' videos online.

Why it matters

Stray proved that perspective alone can be a selling point. Playing as a non-human character in a detailed world felt genuinely different, and its success opened doors for more games built around unconventional protagonists.
