Valve's long-running anti-cheat system, famous less for perfect prevention than for delayed ban waves and endless player suspicion.
VAC has been part of Valve's multiplayer stack since the early 2000s, most visibly around Counter-Strike. Its basic philosophy is quieter than some rivals: detect cheats, log evidence, and issue delayed bans so cheat makers cannot instantly reverse-engineer what got them caught. That approach helped scale across huge player populations, but it also trained the community to live in a permanent state of 'does this guy just have great aim or is Valve asleep again?'
