Ethereum wallets as universal gaming passports. One identity across all games and platforms.
Wallet-based identity replaces the fragmented system of platform-specific accounts (Steam ID, PSN, Xbox Live, Epic, each with separate friends lists and purchase histories) with a single cryptographic identity controlled entirely by the player. Your Ethereum wallet address becomes your universal gaming identity. Every game you own, every achievement you earn, every item you collect is associated with that one address. You log in by signing a message with your private key, not by entering a password stored on someone else's server. There is no account to hack, no password to forget, no platform lock-in keeping your identity hostage. Developers benefit too: they can see a player's onchain history across all games, enabling richer experiences like rewarding loyal players or offering cross-game unlocks based on verified achievements.
Example
A player connects their wallet to Baes.app and their entire gaming history is visible: games owned, time played, achievements earned across every onchain game they have ever touched. A new game could offer exclusive content to players who hold certain tokens or have completed specific achievements in other games. All of this happens without any centralized account system, just a wallet address and cryptographic signatures.
Why it matters
Platform-specific identities fragment the player experience and create lock-in that benefits platforms at the expense of players and developers. Wallet-based identity gives players true ownership of their gaming identity, portable across every game and platform that supports it. For developers, it eliminates the cost and liability of managing user account systems while providing richer player data.
